NATA 2017 (Architecture Entrance)

The Council has been conducting the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) since 2006, as
an online examination spread over a period of 5 months. NATA has been adopted by a majority of
Universities, Government Institutions and all the private institutions as the eligibility examination for
admission to 1st year of 5-Year B.Arch. Degree Course and has been a major success.
The Council after carefully considering the various suggestions, anomalies regarding conduct of NATA in
the past, in order to further improve and strengthen the conduct of exam, and to attract bright students
into studying Architecture, has decided to conduct NATA as a one day examination (Pencil & Paper
based) all over the country on similar lines with other national level entrance exams all over the country.
NATA-2017 for the academic session 2017-2018 shall be conducted as one-day examination (offline) all
over the country on 16.04.2017 (Sunday).
NATA shall consist of 2 Parts, paper based carrying maximum marks of 200. Part 1 of NATA shall consist
of multiple choice 60 questions of 2 marks each (MCQ type) on Mathematics and General Aptitude for a
duration of 90 minutes, while Part 2 which is on Drawing and Observation Skills shall carry 2 questions of
40 marks each- duration 90 minutes. NATA Examination shall be conducted at around 70 cities spread all
over the country. The Candidates shall have to furnish a choice of three cities for the test centre and the
centre shall be allocated by the Council on the basis of number of applications received from a particular
city/state.
NATA 2017 Score shall be valid for admission to B.Arch. Course in Academic Year 2017-2018. Qualifying
Marks would be decided on percentile based on post exam statistics. Marks scored along with percentile
and rank would be published on NATA website.
The candidates can fill in the Application Form on NATA website and remit NATA Exam Fee of Rs.1250/-
online. NATA brochure and other information about submission of online application, eligibility etc. shall
be available at the NATA portal “www.nata.nic.in” and on Council’s website www.coa.gov.in.

What Is It?
It is an Architecture Entrance Exam.
The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability, that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.
Who Takes It and Why?
Prospective applicants desirous of taking admission to First year of undergraduate course in Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture) in India take NATA. NATA scores are used by admissions authorities of different Government, Govt. Aided & unaided schools / colleges of Architecture, to provide common measures for comparing the qualifications of applicants.

Who Accepts It?
All schools / colleges of Architecture, Government, Government aided, University Departments, private unaided, including colleges affiliated to self-financed Deemed Universities and Private Universities, or any department of Architecture within a college, requires that its applicants take the NATA (Architecture Entrance Exam).

The J.E.E.(B.Arch.) is an all India level entrance examination for both engineering/architecture streams. It comprises of separate question patterns and structure for both the streams. The J.E.E.(B.Arch.) pattern for B. Arch/B. Planning comprises of three important parts, part 1 consists of questions from mathematics and part 2 consists of aptitude type questions and part 3 consists of drawing and sketching. It includes questions in testing the students’ attitudes regarding people, place and environment. It is a 3 hours examination.
